TRICARE Plans

Transitional Assistance Management Program

Transitional Assistance Management Program (TAMP) assists servicemembers in maintaining TRICARE health care coverage until nonservice related options take effect after transition back to reservist status. Servicemembers, their families and eligible dependents may receive TAMP for up to 180 days.

Drawback

  • While covered under TAMP, servicemembers and their family members are no longer eligible for TRICARE Prime Remote because the sponsoring servicemember is no longer considered active duty.

Eligibility

To be eligible for TAMP, servicemembers must fall under one of four categories:

  • Category 1
Reserve Components who are involuntarily separated from active duty. Their eligible dependents may also be covered.

  • Category 2
National Guard and Reserves members separated from active duty after being called up or ordered in support of a contingency operation for an active duty period of more than 30 days. Their eligible dependents may also be covered.

  • Category 3
Reserve Components separated from active duty after being involuntarily retained in support of a contingency operation. Their eligible dependents may also be covered.

  • Category 4
Reserve Components separated from active duty following a voluntary agreement to stay on active duty for less than a year in support of a contingency mission. Their eligible dependents may also be covered.

If you lose all TRICARE eligibility, you may still be eligible for the Continued Health Care Benefit Program (CHCBP). Though not part of TRICARE, this program offers similar benefits. Humana Military Healthcare Services manages the program, and you must enroll within 60 days of separation from active duty.
