VETERANS HOUSE LEGISLATION AS OF 30 JULY 08

Veteran House Legislation
30 July 08

Of the 6650 House bills introduced in the 110th Congress to date, following are those of interest to the non-active duty veteran community. By clicking on the bill number you can access the actual legislative language of the bill and see if your representative has signed on as a cosponsor. Support of these bills by other legislators is critical if they are ever going to move through the legislative process for a floor vote to become law. A good indication on that likelihood is the number of cosponsors who have signed onto the bill. A cosponsor is a member of Congress who has joined one or more members in his/her chamber (i.e. House or Senate) to sponsor a bill or amendment. The member who introduces the bill is considered the sponsor. Members subsequently signing on are called cosponsors. Any number of members may cosponsor a bill in the House or Senate. At http://thomas.loc.gov you can also review a copy of each bill, determine its current status, the committee it has been assigned to, and if your legislator is a sponsor or cosponsor of it. To determine what bills, amendments your representative has sponsored, cosponsored, or dropped sponsorship on refer to http://thomas.loc.gov/bss/d110/sponlst.html. The key to increasing cosponsorship is letting our representatives know of veterans feelings on issues. At the end of some listed bills is a web link that can be used to do that. Otherwise, you can locate on http://thomas.loc.gov who your representative is and his/her phone number, mailing address, or email/website to communicate with a message or letter of your own making:

  1. Roger Helbig Says:

I hope that Congress actually examines the facts, vice what the anti-depleted uranium crusade, which has allied itself with a small group of NY National Guard members, Herbert Reed, Gerard Matthew, et al, before doing anything rash to spend even more dollars hunting for a non-existent problem

H.R.0207: Depleted Uranium Screening and Testing Act. A bill to provide for identification of members of the Armed Forces exposed during military service to depleted uranium, to provide for health testing of such members, and for other purposes. Sponsor: Rep Serrano, Jose E. [NY-16] (introduced 1/4/07). Cosponsors (16). Status: Referred to the Subcommittee on Military Personnel.

I plan on writing Serrano, who is probably influenced by these Guardsmen and their allies the NY Greens and a scam artist Asaf Durakovic who seems to not be able to find a vet who does not test positive for DU because he reports natural uranium and calls it DU. I also plan on writing the 16 sponsors, which means that this “for the troops” bill is likely to pass even though it is not for the troops and the people behind the claims that DU is a horrendous poison want the use of DU made into a war crime and what better proof could they get than the US Congress passing a bill to test US soldiers but not everyone in Iraq or Afghanistan (where the anti-DU crusaders claim heavy use, when it was probably not used at all). Learn about depleted uranium – go to http://www.depletedcranium.com and watch dinner being served on a bright orange Fiesta Ware plate glazed with depleted uranium or to the Yahoo Group, DUStory, that was created to expose Douglas Lind Rokke, Leuren K Moret, Asaf Durakovic and other con artists leading the anti-DU crusade.

PS — there are a number of grotesque photos of alleged DU-caused birth defects; please, join me in calling on Congress to get the General Accounting Office, Center for Disease Control or other research organization to identify the true nature of these photos – two of them have been positively identified as being of rare genetic skin diseases with no connection to depleted uranium. I expect the rest are similarly due to non-DU causes, but just part of the very slick and long lasting propaganda campaign began by Saddam Hussein’s government in 1993 when they wanted to paint the US/UK as greater ogres than Saddam was with well meaning, but naive and scientifically unsophisticated peace activists from the US and Europe.

Interesting post right here. One thing I’d like to say is the fact most professional career fields consider the Bachelors Degree just as the entry level standard for an online degree. Whilst Associate Certifications are a great way to start, completing your Bachelors starts up many entrance doors to various employment goodies, there are numerous online Bachelor Diploma Programs available via institutions like The University of Phoenix, Intercontinental University Online and Kaplan. Another issue is that many brick and mortar institutions offer Online variations of their degree programs but commonly for a considerably higher charge than the companies that specialize in online course programs.
