The Swamp hopes all of our female readers had a good Mom’s Day, and that our male readers made sure the women in their lives had a good one as well.  Mrs. Crawfish had a pretty good one, but is leaving today to spend over a month away from her family.  She’ll be doing Navy work in Japan.

Tell me that y’all saw this one coming. Even though $15,400,000,000.00 of TAXPAYER money has been poured down the rathole, General Motors will probably go into Chapter 11 bankruptcy this summer. The company has already announced that they are ending their Pontiac brand, since those models were basically Chevys with cosmetic differences, and are dumping Hummer and Saturn as well. The one thing that could save the company is the one thing that the Obama Administration won’t allow to happen, and that is the castration of the UAW. Their extravagant compensation packages are the reason that it costs so much more for GM to produce a vehicle than for Honda, Toyota, Nissan, or Hyundai to produce one here in the USA.

Townhall blogger INTHENOW sent in this story about how the Administration plans to raise taxes on businesses even after admitting that high business taxes are job killers. Is this still more evidence that Obama really wants to completely wreck our nation?

He also was one of a number of folks who sent this story about a man in Loooziana who was subjected to a background check because he might be an extremist. Why? Because of a “Don’t Tread On Me!” bumper sticker. The message is clear: all patriotic Americans who believe in the Constitution are to be considered threats to the government.

Is anybody really surprised at anything that comes from the mouth of failed sportscaster turned MSNBC talking head Keith Olbermann says? It is this kind of tripe that calls into question the legitimacy of any news reporting done by that network, and contributes heavily to their lack of ratings.

Obama’s good buddy, Hugo Chavez, just used Venezuela’s military to seize a few more private companies in the oil and gas servicing industry. Two of those companies were American owned, but now belong to Hugo. The marxist-socialist named Obama probably approves, since he has made no statement opposing the seizure.

Poll Katz e-mailer Bill brings us a notice from Gun Owners of America about a treaty that The Chosen One is working on that will destroy your gun rights, despite what the 2nd Amendment says.

Where is the ACLU on this one? Hawaii now has an official “Islam Day” on the state calendar. If this had been a “Christianity Day” or “Judaism Day” there would already be at least 100 federal lawsuits.

Ah…I found the ACLU. They’re too busy to notice Hawaii, since they are trying to make nationwide legalization of heterophobic marriage “a sure thing” according to their director. Well, if that happens, then using the same “equal protection” arguments that they have used, bigamist marriages will have to be accepted, as will incestuous, pedophilic, bestiality, triad, and every other possible perversion of marriage. Why not look at the real equal protection and equal rights argument. Right now everyone in America has the equal rights to marry whoever they want, as long as that person is of age, not a relative 2nd cousin or closer, is not currently married, and is of the opposite sex. That discriminates against nobody.

I also found the ACLU in Vermont, a state that evidently loves pedophiles and other sex offenders, since its judges routinely give them cakewalk sentences. This time, the ACLU wants sex offenders to be able to live near schools and playgrounds. Gotta help out those in the core Democrat voting demographics.

My regular readers know that The Crawfish opposed the crazy spending that was allowed by the W Administration in its first 6 years, and especially the explosion of spending in the 2 years after Queen of the House Red Nanny P-Lousy and Dingy Harry “Land Deal” Reid took over the checkbook. The 2008 budget set the record for deficit spending. Enter The Chosen One, who pledged to cut the deficit in half by the end of His first term. So what did He do with his first proposed budget? Well, the numbers just rose to a point where the deficit alone for 2009 is projected to be over $1,800,000,000,000.00, which is more than FOUR TIMES the previous record. I’m guessing that His plan is to explode the deficit in the first two years, then cut THAT deficit in half for His final budget and claim to have done what He promised.

I’m not sayin’ that academia has lost touch with real life (well, not right now, but I have been saying that for years), but about 80% of America IS saying that.

The top name mentioned in the SCOTUS nomination guessing game is still Sonia Sotomayor. She ruled on a case that is now before the Supremes. It is the reverse discrimination case of the firefighters who were denied promotions because the black candidates didn’t score well enough. Her ruling was a total of one paragraph and ignored most of the evidence and all of the Constitutional issues, but she praised the lower court judge’s well-thought reasoning.

Looks like a CBS golf analyst got in trouble for telling an unpleasant truth involving Queen of the House Red Nanny P-Lousy. Then again, many of them would shoot UBL and enjoy strangling the other two slowly.
