Cyberspace: a possible new war zone?
Last week Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates announced the Pentagon’s networks will undergo updates that will coordinate the daily operations of the military’s computer networks.
The project’s goal is to protect America from cyberattactks while enhancing cybersecurity.
Official sources explained the project is not meant to simply bring the military into cyberspace, but rather to reorganize the Department of Defense in the hopes of consolidating and streamlining military commands into one system.
The new system will be known as “Cybercom,” and could possibly be led by Lt. Gen. Keith Alexander, who is currently directs the National Security Agency.
