Greetings. Does anyone have a good recommendation for a tan desert boot that will meet spec for TMAR? By good, I mean comfortable.

I like the Bates assault boots, also the Oakley assault boots

Haven't decided where to buy yet. I'll probably buy online somewhere. I was at Top Brass earlier today picking up my uniform but didn't exactly like the prices on the boots.

I'll have to retract what I said about Top Brass. Their price for the Bates M-8 is the best so far. I'm leaning in that direction.

There are some variations in fit among the different boot manufacturers and sometimes even between different models of boots from the same manufacturer. If you possibly can, try on the boots you intend to buy. Or if you buy online, make sure they have a return policy that allows you to return the boots for a different size. Remember, you will be spending a lot of time in your boots so make sure you get ones that fit really well.

A good pair of insoles is more important than the boot...

Exactly what my future LT said. I'll probably buy an average pair of boots and go from there.

Check out this site. Great selection and their prices aren't to bad.

On a different note, does anyone know where I can buy a Desert Digital 8pt Cap without the Marine Corp Insignia on it? Specifically, in the Houston area?

top brass... they are $10 i think and I'll bring my shaper and starch to get it set properly. remember to fit it where the cover doesn't sit past the point on back of your head. sweatband is level with the deck.

Thanks witchdoctor. I'm still hoping on being able to swear in this weekend but it's looking less likely as the days draw nearer. Regardless, I'll be there for drill on Saturday.
