Air Force Tuition Assistance

Find SchoolsAir Force Tuition Assistance (TA) helps airmen complete their education while on active duty. Airmen can receive up to $4,500 annually toward the cost of coursework. If you are elegible, AllMilitary.com can help you find schools where you can use Air Force Tuition Assistance.

Highlights

  • Tuition Assistance is available to both active duty and reserve airmen.

  • Allows you to earn a degree at a pace adaptive to your military schedule while you are on active duty.

  • You can receive $250 per credit hour, up to $4,500 annually.

  • Also available to complete a certificate program or earn a high school diploma.

Drawbacks

  • Tuition Assistance doesn’t cover courses taken that are at a level lower than your degree map indicates you should be taking.

  • If you fail a course, Tuition Assistance will not be provided for that course.

  • Tuition assistance helps, but because you can only receive $4,500 annually, you will probably have to find other assistance to help pay for some courses or foot that part of the bill yourself.

    For Example

You will reach the $4,500 annual limit if you take 9 credit hours during the fall semester and 9 credit hours during the spring semester and receive $250 of Tuition Assistance for each of those 18 credit hours. However, if you want to graduate in four years, usually you’ll need to take 30 credit hours a year, and Tuition Assistance won’t cover 12 of those 30 credit hours; only 18 of them.
