Navy Tuition Assistance

Navy Tuition Assistance (TA) pays up to $250 for each credit hour taken by active duty sailors. Tuition assistance may be used for classroom, distance-learning and independent-study courses that apply toward a post-secondary degree or certification program eligible.

Highlights

  • The Navy will pay up to a certain amount for each credit hour you take:

    • $250 each credit hour
      Or
    • $166.67 each quarter hour

Drawbacks

  • Tuition Assistance will only cover 12 semester credit hours or 18 quarter credit hours each fiscal year.

  • Tuition Assistance does not cover textbooks

  • Tuition Assistance does not cover courses you previously took with Tuition Assistance funds.

  • If you fail, withdraw from or receive an incomplete in a course that you received TA for, you must reimburse the Navy.

  • Enroll on time. TA will not give up-front funding if your school's drop, add or late registration period has passed.
