Do's and Don'ts of Dressing for an Interview
Do wear...
For the ladies:
- Solid colors (beige, brown, black, taupe)
- A skirt or
- Pant suit
- Light or tan hosiery
- Closed toe and heel shoes
- Minimal jewelry
- Light make-up
For the gentlemen:
- Ironed slacks
- Solid color collared shirt
- Coordinating tie (tip touching the top of belt)
- Dark dress socks
- Limited jewelry
- Tailored jacket (depending on how formal)
- Polished dress shoes
Do not wear...
For the ladies:
- Suits or jackets without sleeves
- Skirt more than 2 inches above the knee. NO EXCEPTIONS!
- Perfume. Some people have allergies to fragrances
- Dangly bracelets, long earrings or necklaces
- Sandals, high heels, or boots
- Hosiery darker than your shoes
For the gentlemen:
- Ties with extravagant designs or colors
- Earrings or flashy jewelry
- After shave and cologne
- White socks
- Sport shoes
