Description :

Applicant selected will be required to regularly observe and evaluate operator's driving ability and skills as Supervisor.  Intermittently spot check vehicles for abuse and accomplishment of operator maintenance checks and services. Check logbooks for completeness and compliance with procedures. Spot check Completed dispatching work for customer service and satisfaction, conformance with current practices and procedures, and to ensure that commitments are met. Assign missions to drivers based off employee schedule and provide notification to PTOC operators in a timely manner to forecast missions. Maintain time-cards for staff.

Operates passenger buses and other gasoline and diesel powered vehicles with an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 26,000 pounds and up to 32,000 pounds, and usually equipped with air brakes. Operate diesel powered buses with 28-53 passenger capacity. Transport personnel throughout the installation, over public roads, and highways on scheduled and special long/short haul trips. Arrive at/depart from pickup/discharge points at scheduled times.

Control the loading/unloading of passengers. Operate doors to allow passengers to enter/leave the bus. Maintain vehicle in safe and serviceable condition. Perform operator maintenance checks before, during, and after vehicle operation to include monitoring fluid levels, checking tire pressure and hose connections, cleaning vehicle exterior and passenger compartment, tightening loose bolts and screws, replacing filters, etc. Maintain vehicle logbook and make appropriate logbook entries to include time vehicle was issued and returned, mileage, passengers transported, etc. Note any vehicle deficiencies and malfunctions.

Prepare accident reports in accordance with established procedures as needed.  As required by the workload, may occasionally operate other type and size vehicles for which qualified and licensed to operate. Receive instruction from the supervisor as to the type of vehicle to be operated, destination, cargo, passengers to be transported, purpose of the trip, deadlines to be met, and any special information important to the mission. Follow established time schedules when operating a bus. 

Use judgments in making wide turns, braking, and backing and turning buses around competently and safely.  Ensure that buses do not contain more passengers than legally allowed.

Qualifications :

- High school Diploma or equivalent. Must possess valid "A" or "B" driver's license with excellent driving skills and ability to maintain Post driving privileges. 
- Clean driving record. 
- Must be able to pass an on-line DOD Safe driving course.
- Proficient in the English language with good communication skills.
- Familiar with Ft.
- Bliss and El Paso, TX area desired.
- Light physical effort is used in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls on the buses.
- Moderate physical effort is exerted while operating, turning, backing, and controlling vehicle.
